Our unsealed water bath double-layer electrolytic cell is a specialized glass vessel used in electrochemistry to maintain precise temperature control during experiments.

Key Components & Design:

  • Jacketed Wall (Double Layer): The inner chamber holds your electrolyte and electrodes, while the outer "jacket" features an inlet and outlet. You connect these to an external constant-temperature circulator to keep the reaction at a specific temperature (e.g., 25°C or 37°C).

  • Unsealed Top: Unlike "H-cells" or airtight "H-type" cells, an unsealed version usually features a simple ground-glass lid or an open top. This is ideal for experiments where gas pressure doesn't need to be contained, or for easy access to swap electrodes.

  • Material: Almost always made of Borosilicate glass 3.3 to handle thermal shock and resist chemical corrosion from acids or bases.

Common Applications:

  • Corrosion Testing: Monitoring how metals degrade at specific temperatures, mimicking real-world environmental conditions.

  • Electrocatalysis: Precise temperature control is vital here, as even a 1°C shift can significantly alter the reaction kinetics and overpotential.

  • Electro-organic Synthesis: Maintaining a stable temperature prevents side reactions or the degradation of sensitive organic molecules.

  • Standard Electrode Potential Measurements: Ensuring the cell remains at exactly 25°C (298K) to match standard reference tables.
