In electroless plating, the surface cleaning is arguably the most critical steps in the entire line. Because the process relies on a spontaneous chemical reaction at the surface, any contaminants will cause "skips" (unplated areas) or poor adhesion. Our surface cleaner removes the contaminants, such as dirt, oil effectively for subsequent plating process. It requires heat 50 - 80 C to effectively emulsify oils from the surface.

We recommend the "Water Break" Test after performing our surface cleaner: Rinse the part in clean water and hold it vertically. If the water forms a continuous sheet, the surface is chemically clean. If the water "beads up" (like on a waxed car), residual oil remains, and the part will likely fail plating.
