Our stainless steel disk electrode SS 304 is an electrochemical working electrode used primarily for corrosion analysis and general electrochemical studies of stainless steel in various environments. It has good durability and general resistance to oxidation.

Primary Applications:

  • General Corrosion Studies: Used as a working electrode to study the electrochemical behavior and corrosion rates of standard 304 stainless steel in various media, often through techniques like potentiodynamic polarization or electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS).

  • Material Comparison: Often used alongside SS316 electrodes to directly compare the impact of molybdenum on corrosion resistance in chloride environments.

  • Environmental Remediation: Used as an electrode in some electrochemical water treatment processes, particularly for the removal of organic pollutants where high purity is not the main concern.

  • Electrochemical Deposition/Cleaning: Sometimes used as a durable, inexpensive substrate for electroplating other materials or for studying surface cleaning processes.

  • Biomaterial Testing: 304L is used in some medical and food contact applications, prompting research into its electrochemical stability and biocompatibility in specific fluid environments.
