Simulated Body Fluid (SBF) is an acellular solution with ion concentrations nearly identical to those of human blood plasma. It is primarily used as an in vitro testing medium to predict the bioactivity of materials by observing if hydroxyapatite (the main mineral in bone) forms on their surface.
