Our Silica Nanoparticle Additive Liquids consist of nano-sized SiO2 particles dispersed in water.

Water-based silica dispersions are versatile additives in the cosmetic industry, valued for their ability to enhance product performance, texture, and stability without the need for organic solvents.

The primary applications of water-based silica dispersion in cosmetics include:

  • Sunscreen Formulations: Silica acts as an SPF booster by scattering UV light and improving the distribution of physical filters like zinc oxide. It also helps reduce the typical greasiness and stickiness of sun care products.

  • Oil Control and Mattifying: Due to its high porosity and surface area, silica effectively absorbs excess sebum and sweat, providing a long-lasting matte finish in oily skin formulations, powders, and foundations.

  • Soft Focus and Aesthetics: Microspherical silica particles diffuse light, creating a soft-focus effect that blurs fine lines and imperfections. They also improve "slip" and spreadability, giving products a luxurious, velvety skin feel.

  • Rheology and Stability: Silica serves as a thickening and thixotropic agent, adjusting the viscosity of lotions and serums to prevent phase separation and ensuring the formula remains stable during storage.
