Our PTFE beaker with a handle is a highly durable, chemically inert laboratory container designed for safely holding, mixing, and pouring highly corrosive or sensitive liquids. The integrated handle provides a secure and safe grip, minimizing the risk of exposure to hazardous materials during transfer.

Key Features:

  • Universal Chemical Resistance: Made from solid, non-porous PTFE, these beakers are virtually immune to chemical attack from all strong acids (including hydrofluoric acid), strong bases, and organic solvents.

  • Wide Temperature Range: They are cryo-compatible and can withstand continuous use from cryogenic temperatures up to approximately 250°C (some up to 260°C), making them suitable for use on heating plates (but not open flames).

  • Safety and Ergonomics: The molded-in or integrated handle allows for safe and easy handling and pouring, especially when working with hot or hazardous solutions.

  • Non-Contaminating: The smooth, non-stick surface is easy to clean, minimizes sample adhesion, and prevents the leaching of trace metal ions, which is critical for high-purity applications and trace analysis.

  • Durability: Unlike fragile glass beakers, PTFE beakers are virtually unbreakable and shockproof under normal lab conditions.

Main applications:

1. High-Risk Liquid Transfer

  • Hydrofluoric Acid (HF) Dispensing: Since HF dissolves glass and standard plastics, PTFE beakers are the primary vessel for its transport. The handle allows a technician to pour HF into etching baths with a steady grip, significantly reducing the risk of skin contact. Learn more about PTFE safety.

  • Hot Acid Digestions: When acids like sulfuric or nitric acid are heated to

200∘C+200 raised to the composed with power cap C plus

    200∘𝐶+

, they become extremely dangerous to handle with traditional lab tongs. The integrated PTFE handle allows for manual pouring of boiling acids without the risk of the beaker slipping or shattering from thermal shock.

2. Semiconductor & Electronics Manufacturing

  • Wafer Etching Baths: Used to manually top up or mix "Piranha" solution (sulfuric acid and hydrogen peroxide) in wet benches. The handle is critical here because the beaker is often handled while wearing bulky, acid-resistant gloves that make gripping a standard cylinder difficult.

  • Chemical Mechanical Planarization (CMP): Mixing abrasive and corrosive slurries that require a non-stick surface to prevent residue buildup.

3. Trace Metal Analysis (ICP-MS/OES)

  • Bulk Sample Preparation: In laboratories performing environmental testing (soil or water), large-volume PTFE beakers with handles are used to mix bulk samples. PTFE ensures zero metal ion leaching (no Boron, Silicon, or Sodium contamination common in glass), which is vital for parts-per-billion (ppb) accuracy.

4. Industrial Sampling and "Dipping"

  • Vat Sampling: Many models feature a screw-in handle (dipper style), allowing operators to reach into deep tanks or chemical drums to retrieve a sample of highly caustic fluids without exposing their arms to fumes or splashes. Check LabPort PTFE Dippers.

5. Pharmaceutical Compounding

  • Sterile Ingredients: Because PTFE is autoclavable and non-stick, it is used to handle active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) that are sticky or prone to adhering to glass. The handle facilitates easy pouring into large-scale mixing vessels.
